Violet - 2 Months

7.11.2010
Yesterday, Violet turned two months old! It flies by so fast - I feel like I can't take enough pictures, videos, and mental snapshots of her cuteness. At the same time, it's hard to remember a time when I didn't have her. Work, leisure time, sleeping as long as I want - it all seems like a distant memory. She is definitely my whole life, and I love her so much it hurts!

This beautiful blanket was crocheted with love for Miss Violet by her Great Aunt Carol. Other than my baby blankets, this is the first baby blanket she received after we announced that we were pregnant.

[And as you can see, we did much better with the onesie this time around. We switched from Gerber brand, which are wide but not nearly long enough, to Miniwear, which fit her perfectly. She is in 3 month clothing at this point, but even a Gerber 3-6 month size wouldn't be nearly long enough for our babe!]

Cute things Violet is doing at two months (along with lots of sleepy pictures):

  • She smiles ALL of the time. Especially if you smile at her first. She even does this cute thing where if I smile at her, she'll smile and turn her head like she's being shy.

  • Talking up a storm! She 'oh's', 'goo's', and 'gah's'. We have the longest conversations. I'm not always sure what they're about, but I love girl talk with my baby.

  • Rolling on her side. For a few weeks, she HAD to be on her side to sleep. We'd lay her on her back, she'd squirm for a while in her sleep, and she'd end up on her side. Lately she's been sleeping on her back again, but she still enjoys rolling from time to time.

  • Holding her head up and turning it from side to side. She does this especially when we go on walks outside. She loves her Beco carrier because it allows her to look around at the world. Trees are her absolute favorite - she's always looking up at them.

  • Still growing like crazy! At her one month appointment she weighed 10 pounds, 9 ounces and was in the 90th percentile for both height and weight. She has been in 3 month clothing since she was a little over a month old and is almost out of it...3-6, here we come! I can't wait to see how much she weighs at her two month appointment.

  • Fights sleep and is sleepy all of the time. I miss the newborn days where she would just 'fall' asleep when she was tired. Now she fights it like a champ. She squirms, thrashes, anything to stay awake. But she is SO sleepy and cranky at the same time. We have to rock her, walk her, or bounce her to sleep most days now. If all else fails, I can lay down with her and she'll usually go right to sleep. This is probably good for me to get some much needed Mommy rest anyway.

I love her so much and I'm trying so hard to soak up every moment, from the wonderful ones to the tired and cranky ones. She changes so much from day to day and is growing up so fast. Thank goodness for digital cameras - I take a ridiculous amount of photos and videos. Stay tuned for some cute videos of baby babble, sleep suckling, and more!

  2. She gets cuter with every post! I know what you mean about the digital camera...and these are great shots. It's so sweet that she'll sleep if you lay next to her (even though you probably kind of wish you could just pop her down and have her sleep on her own - I know I felt like that!). But sooo cute. Love those smiles :)
