1. Food stains! Violet's clothing stayed sooo much cleaner than Lucy's does - I didn't realize how messy feeding a baby can be!
2. We go through bibs like crazy - I feel like we have a thousand and I just can never keep enough clean to last the whole week.
3. Sticky fingers, sticky faces, general stickiness. Of course, when Violet was a toddler we dealt with the sticky fingers thing but we were blissfully unaware of how sticky a baby can get.
4. Where do you feed them when visiting friends? I'm not about to lug my high chair everywhere we go, so where do you put your baby when you're visiting a friend (or even a restaurant) who doesn't have a high chair? I usually end up just holding her on my lap, but what a disaster that always turns out to be! I'm thinking maybe we should have invested in a portable high chair of some kind, but now I'm wondering if it's a little late in the game to actually get our money's worth out of it? I'm really liking this one by Inglesina:
Thanks so much from a second time mama, first time baby feeder lol! xo, Lauren
P.S. Tips for Little Eaters
Go for the Inglesina chair! We have one for our daughter who is 18 months. She's been using it since she was about 6 months and it has been the best purchase for us. It has its own built-in carrying bag and even though it gets really sticky and dirty, it washes so beautifully!
ReplyDeleteBeing 4 months pregnant I know I have awhile to think about this, but thanks for sharing! This little chair is the neatest thing! Adding it to my never ending list of things to get for baby! :)
ReplyDeleteWe have this chair and LOVED it for feeding our daughter. Unfortunately it doesn't fit on the new dining room table so we had to do a high chair for our son. I recommend measuring the apron of your table(if it has one) and ensuring the Inglesina can make the pivot.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip!
DeleteI second Barbara’s comment. We made the same mistake with our table and it doesn’t fit. Great for tables that don’t have substantial aprons.
ReplyDeleteWe have the Phil & Ted Lobster chair (similar to the Inglesina) for our son Emerson, who is now 18 months and we love it! We use it all the time when we go out - it's great to use at restaurants, or when visiting friends or family. We have a keekaroo high chair at home, so we just keep the lobster in our car so we always have it when we're out. I don't think it's too late in the game for you to get one - they are SO convenient. You'll love it!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check that brand out as well!
DeleteI could have written this myself. Feeding aria and feeding saera is like starting over from scratch. Saera didn't eat this early and I feel like a fish out of water. it's fun but oh so messy. What did you start Lucy on? Aria HATES purees with a passion but loves yogurt. She loves to feed herself but never seems like she is eating much.
ReplyDeleteLucy liked purees okay, but is not super into them. She LOVES feeding herself but I agree that it seems like so much work to get all those little morsels of food into their mouths - I often wonder if she's expending more calories feeding herself than she's taking in lol!
DeleteWe started out with the IKEA bibs (http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/70179754/) that cover everything and can be rinsed and dried a couple of times before you need to wash them. They're a bit big, but they do the job! Now he's a bit older, we use wipe clean bibs, they just get rinsed after every meal and hung to dry on the back of his highchair. They're great! Kind of like these - http://www.mothercare.com/Mothercare-Toddler-Crumbcatcher-Bibs---2-Pack/496220,default,pd.html#q=bibs
ReplyDeleteAre they difficult for babies to take off? Lucy is FOREVER ripping off her bibs - even the ones with super strong velcro. So frustrating!
DeleteDefinitely get a hook on chair! We have the black Inglesia and the only gripe I have is that I thought the black would hide stains. It washes beautifully but when my daughter decides to wipe her face on it, the food dries a tan color. If I was going to buy one again, I'd go tan. I bet it hides way more than you'd imagine.
ReplyDeleteEmily
We used a bumbo with tray but it can be annoying to lug around.
