I turned off the Oscars last night after about twenty minutes. The montages and spoofs were mind-numbingly boring and I just couldn't get into it. I did, however, have some fashion favorites from the red carpet - my absolute favorite being Mila Kunis:
Her dress was the perfect shade of purple, and was breathtakingly feminine but still young and fun. Hailee Steinfeld also chose a feminine gown that was perfectly age-appropriate:
Mandy Moore didn't get a lot of attention, but I really loved her sparkling Monique Lhuillier number:
And, of course, Gwyneth is never one to disappoint:
And while I didn't think Michelle Williams' dress was the most flattering she could have chosen, she totally pulled it off with her fabulous hair and makeup:
I so wish I could pull off short hair! I still have yet to watch The King's Speech - time is precious these days, but I will get to it one of these days - Colin Firth has always been a huge favorite of mine (the original Mr. Darcy!) So what did you think? Did you make it through the show?
I actually enjoyed the spoof and this was the first time in years that I actually watched the entire thing. I love, love, love Mandy Moore and her music, wish more people did
ReplyDeleteI loved Mandy Moore's dress, Gwyneth Paltrow's, Hailee's .. and Jennifer Lawrence's? (I think that's her name) Such beautiful dresses!
ReplyDeleteDidn't make it till the end of the show... what did you think of james/anne as hosts?
Mila's dress was definitely my favorite too! So pretty but a little risqué at the same time. Jennifer Hudson looked amazing too. I was disappointed with Nicole Kidman' odd, unflattering dress. I thought the hosts were good but James seemed awkward at times, Anne is much more of a natural I think. I went to bed at 10:30 though so I missed some...
ReplyDeleteLauren, I have considered chopping my hair like Michelle- any thoughts??!
I agree - it was a hum drum Oscar night to say the least. Anne Hathaway's energy made the show come off as flippant - instead of classy as it usually is...and to me she made the night about her any chance she could "this is a big moment for me to be able to introduce Sandra Bullock" or "aside from me getting to wear a dress that does this..." blah blah blah and James Franco's laid back attitude didn't serve the show well either (although I do love him so). The two of them together = akwardness. It was a total Oscar flop...in my humble opinion. But yes to Mila Kunis and the other pretty ladies you mention! And Mandy Moore was adorable and who knew "Chuck" could sing? He's so dreamy....
