Recently, Melissa wrote to me about her family room/office space:
Hi Lauren!
Thanks so much for helping us. I love your blog. We have a very large room (by Chicago standards) which is to become a family room and office. We're not sure what to do with the space!
Family Room: needs to be kid-friendly space where we can watch TV, hang out, read, etc. The paint color, carpet, and IKEA Karlstad sectional must stay.
Office: I am a wedding planner and needs gobs of desktop space as well as a place to store all of the goodies I receive. If the office wasn't shared with the family room, I'd do white lacquer with some frills... but that won't compliment the looks of the family room. I'd love a simple desk like the West Elm parson's with some super functional storage like the IKEA Expedit. We are also in desperate need of some color.
Cheers,
Misse
Misse had a gorgeous neutral base to use as a jumping off point - I just added in a few subtle pops of color. Here's what I came up with:
Paint Color - SW White Truffle
Sectional - IKEA
Desk - West Elm
Pillow 1 - Urban Outfitters
Pillow 2 - Etsy Seller FabricJunkie1640
Pillow 3 - Etsy Seller TUTAE
Curtain Fabric (Flanking Patio Doors) - Etsy Seller SilkWay
Rug - Dash & Albert
Sheepskin Rug - IKEA
Chair - Ballard Designs
Wall Plaques - Crate & Barrel
Chicago Diptych - Etsy seller StudioKMO
Table Lamp - Crate & Barrel
Mirror - IKEA
Office accessories - West Elm
Great idea board! I am crushing on that long, velvet pillow. Yum! Can't wait to see what you conjure up for my bedroom idea board.
