Lucy's First Snow + Our Christmas Cards!

12.10.2013
We had planned to have professional family photos taken the other day for our Christmas cards, but it snowed and our photographers weren't able to make it. We were all dressed and ready, and the snow was too lovely to pass up, so we decided to make due with our trust iPhones. Not professional quality by any means, but I'm still happy with the results!

It was Lucy's first snow, so that made it extra special. She had a wonderful time puttering around in the sled for about fifteen minutes before she got too cold and I took her in. Next time she'll be going out in her big puffy snowsuit instead of her winter finery, but puffy snowsuits don't make for pretty pictures considering that you can't see much of the subject! Violet wanted to stay out longer so we took her in and suited her up in all her puffy gear and sent her back out to romp and make snow angels to her heart's content. She came back in freezing cold, so we dug out some hot cocoa mix and made her her first cup of "warm" chocolate (hot chocolate didn't sound as pleasant to her, so warm it was!)

A Lovely Lark Lucy's First Snow We're using Minted for our holiday cards this year, and I haven't decided for sure yet, but I think we're going with this design:

Normally I'd go with one big family photo like the ones I posted about earlier, but unfortunately the photos from my iPhone weren't quite big enough (I just got a new one and I'll have to check the settings) for a full bleed picture, so I hunted for a pretty composite card instead. I'm really happy with how it turned out despite it not being what I originally had in mind. Happy accidents are the best, don't you think?! xo, Lauren

P.S. Last year's Christmas tree hunt and decking the halls.

  2. oh wow, your photos turned out so great! Just amazing. We had to take a few runs at it, our first attempt this year was a bit of a disaster (blogged here: http://www.knittedbliss.com/2013/12/wee-wednesday-christmas-card-photo-fail.html) and we certainly didn't have the lovely snow that you did!

  4. Thanks everyone! Julie - the snow definitely helped make the photos look so much prettier! Kayleigh - thanks, I did do a little Photoshop action after taking the pictures! Katherine - my lipstick is Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain + Balm but the color name has worn off and I can't read it any more! It's kind of a coral-ly red. The next time I go to the store to buy more I'll try to remember to let you know!
