Pregnancy Update

So I'm over 38 weeks pregnant now - Violet can come any day! I happen to have a new (albeit ambiguous) photo of my baby, thanks to a third trimester growth ultrasound. My practice doesn't typically do these, but like I mentioned before, Dr. Jerk apparently thought I was 'measuring small' so he scheduled me for one. At least one good thing came out of that appointment other than revving up my pregnancy hormones and causing me a weekend of the blues. Without further ado, here is Miss Violet:

What you're looking at is a profile of her head. The arrow is point at her little nose. To the right of that is her forehead, and to the left of the nose is her mouth, but her little hand is partially covering it. She may even be sucking her thumb :) Although it's not the best pic of my baby girl, I was glad to even get that - a lot of people say late in the third tri they only got to see a spine because baby is so big.

So how did the growth ultrasound turn out? Well baby is measuring in the 43rd percentile (so just below average), which is good at around 6 lbs, 13 oz. Plenty of amniotic fluid left! So everything is just right.

Here is my 38 week pregnancy update:

How far along? 38 Weeks, 1 Day

Stretch marks? Negative.

Sleep: Doing okay. Baby doesn't like me to change positions very often though. It's literally like a bowling ball is rolling around in there when I move and it doesn't feel very good at all! Sometimes when I wake up to use the little girls' room, it truly feels like my bladder may burst.

Best moment this week: Getting my third tri ultrasound and finding out that my baby was doing great!

Movement: She's been trying to burrow out through my tummy. Apparently her foot is positioned just to the right of my belly button, and she lets me know it! I luckily haven't felt any rib kicks - I think she's just too low for that.

Food cravings: Fruit. I've been having the Hubster buy me blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, bananas, pineapple - any and all fruit! Then I make a BIG fruit salad and go to town :)

Gender: Still a girl! Confirmed by third tri ultrasound. This made me breathe easier. I was a little worried - I work with a teacher who was told she was having a girl and ended up with a boy. And we have a LOT of pink and purple clothing...

Labor Signs: None yet...but baby's head is 'WAY down there' according to the ultrasound tech.

Belly Button in or out? Oh, it's out. I don't think it can stretch any further...

What I miss: Being able to walk and stand without pain. I've definitely got swollen ankles and sore feet at this point.

What I am looking forward to: My baby!!!

Weekly Wisdom: Despite the discomfort, I do feel truly lucky to have had a healthy and normal pregnancy and that my baby is doing well.

Milestones: Full term!

I am also happy to say that I had a much nicer appointment - I love my ultrasound tech. I've had him for all three ultrasound and he is super nice. Happily I was scheduled with one of the midwives at this appointment. LOVE the midwives at my practice! She looked over my birth preferences, made a few suggestions, and gave me some advice -

If you want an intervention-free birth, STAY HOME AS LONG AS POSSIBLE!
Eat and drink before you leave for the hospital. She recommended that we come in when my contractions are 2-3 minutes apart.
