Rug Research

8.26.2010
Since we are painting our back room a light gray and pairing it with a dark gray sofa, I definitely want to add a lot of color to the space with accessories. The first thing I want to choose is an area rug, as it will most likely be the largest accessory in the space.

If I had my druthers (AKA a LOT more money) I would totally buy a Madeline Weinrib area rug. I love the graphic patterns and bold colors:

But since I don't have over 1K to drop on an area rug, I've been searching for something similar. Here's what I've come up with:

Zigzag Rug via West Elm

Andalusia Rug via West Elm

Surya Pale Yellow Rug via RugsUSA

Boardwalk Stripes Rugs via The American Home Rug Company

Which one would you choose? If any of you know of any other orange/coral/yellow area rugs that fit the bill, I'd love to hear about them!

  4. Love the rugs you picked! Have you looked at Dash and Albert? They are great rugs (we have one in our nursery and soon to be in our living room) and if you get one from Layla Grayce, you can use a coupon code too - always a good thing!

    PS: I love your blog

  5. I have been rug shopping also, we just can't agree at moment. I love the yellow Argonne Rug via Home Decorator's Collection, it wouldn't fit our decor but it is pretty sweet!

  6. Believe it or not, I was trying to find orange & white striped or chevron rugs today! I LOVE the boldness of stripes and chevrons, and there's nothing better than a bright, warm color like orange (or yellow!!) paired against grey. Good finds!

  7. Thomas Paul has some great graphic rugs, as well as Anthropologie, although *most* are a bit over $1K for an 8x11.

  10. Area rugs are so hard! I need 3 of them. Love all your options, but especially the pattern of the Argonne...I would take that in any color. Been contemplating it in gray or green or blue for our family room, just not sure how soft it is. Good luck!

  14. I also was is the market for a warm colored rug and didn't have much money to spend. I ended up getting this one from Ikea. It's definitely not plush so if you're looking for something for baby to roll around on then this may be a little to rough. Hope this helps!
