My (very un-glamorous) Birthday Present

Taking the day off for my birthday (the big two-nine, woo hoo!), but I just wanted to quickly share my birthday present to myself:

Isn't she a beauty? I desperately needed a new vacuum. Our old one bit the dust (pun intended) and we've been using a huge and heavy old clunker that my grandmother loaned us (thanks Grammy!) It does the trick, but I avoid vacuuming like the plague because it's such a pain. Now that Violet is much more mobile (mostly still army crawling, but she occasionally gets up on all fours and crawls for a few minutes) I have a LOT more motivation to keep my floors spic and span. Especially because any stray crumb could end up in her mouth and cause an allergic reaction.

Our home is mostly hardwood, but we have a few area rugs and our stairs and hallway are carpeted, so we needed something that had multiple functions and this fit the bill. It's the Dyson DC26 Wood + Wool City Vacuum and so far I'm totally loving it! Sure, maybe not the most glamorous birthday present I've ever gotten, but this year practicality trumped frivolity. Plus it was twenty percent off at Sears - woohoo!
