Recently, Ann wrote to me for help designing her dorm room:
Hi Lauren,
First of all, I love your blog. Thank you for a the inspiration! Second of all, my name is Ann and I am currently a senior in high school. This fall I will be attending Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts. The dorms at Mount Holyoke are absolutely beautiful (most were built in the mid-1800s to early 1900s) and I am excited to decorate "my side" of the dorm room. I love the bright colors typically found in items from India, paper lanterns, and anything to do with traveling. I have a few key pieces from my room that I would love to take with me (I have attached pictures) in an email to you.
Thanks in advance for all your help,
Ann
Ann had quite a few pieces for me to use as a jumping-off point for the space, including the nautical art, pom pom garland, wooden stamp and pillows. I came up with two idea boards for her. One features warmer colors and the other, cooler blues and purples:

Thanks to Ann for letting me design my first dorm room idea board! I wish I had been nearly so stylish and worldy in college. Best of luck in your future endeavors!

Thanks Lily!
ReplyDeleteI go to Mount Holyoke! The dorms ARE gorgeous, but beware that it can be difficult to get art to stick to the walls - they can be old/bowed/non-sticky, especially in the older ones. So glad you chose MoHo!
