Dina Holland writes the fabulous home design blog Honey & Fitz. It's full of beautiful before & afters, spectacular Etsy finds, and DIY tips, along with a dash of her adorable son, Knox. I featured Knox's nursery a while back and have been smitten with Dina's blog ever since. Today Dina has put together a beautiful idea board with fantastic finds for a woodland-inspired nursery. Enjoy!
I am SO delighted to be guest posting for Lauren today. When she asked me to do it, my first thought was complete and total blogger's block! You see...
"It's hotter than a pair of sweat pants full of barbecue."
I'm not originally from the South but I've grown to love the ridiculous Southern sayings I hear during the oppressive summers here. I can't even remember the last time the temperatures dipped down into the 80s. With week in and and week out of insane heat, I've been
I first discovered with two cats when I was pregnant and voraciously seeking nursery inspiration. I landed on Lauren's blog and have been a fan ever since! And because Lauren is the queen of nursery inspiration boards, I decided to turn my woodland daydream into a woodland inspired nursery.
I would keep this sweet little room bright and cheerful by doing light colored walls to counterbalance the wood tones in the furniture pieces. A leafy green chandelier overhead is a subtle nod to the woodsy retreat while a vintage mushroom print adds a jolt of color and playfullness. An adorable and understated pink faux bois fabric would be perfect for curtain panels and a crib skirt. You could easily make this room less feminine by eliminating the pink and going with something more neutral in the same pattern (see sources below for suggestions). I'd use an earthy-colored faux bois rug to ground the entire room and really tie in the whole "woodland" feeling. A 70s mushroom-shaped lamp adds a great pop of color and a whimsical cartoony forest friends print for the crib bumper (should you choose to use them) adds just the right sweetness for a nursery.
What do you think? I think this room could be SOOOO SWEET. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to crank my a/c and eat another Popsicle. Stay cool!

Thank you so much Dina for the beautiful idea board! I may have to buy a few of those pieces for myself (ah the curse of being a blogger).
That would make a super sweet room.
ReplyDeleteLove that pendant light! So clever and sweet. And #11, the hooks. Raccoon wallpaper haha, cute for awhile.
The raccoon print is actually fabric that I thought would be darling for the crib bumpers! BUT my late addition to this board are these adorable woodland wall decals from Blik that I think would add just the right (non-permanent) touch of whimsy to the walls in this room.

This is adorable! I just ran across your blog today and couldn't believe your woodland theme! I am in the process of finishing up my sister's nursery in a "friends from the forest" theme!
