What Not TO Wear

6.02.2009
So we all know what NOT to wear, but do we know what TO wear? Here is a fabulous site that takes the guesswork out of shopping for flattering finds - it's called MyShape.com

MyShape isn't like most sites that just show you photos of different body types and make you guess which one belongs to you. This site actually takes the guesswork out - completely. They do this by having you complete a few steps:

Step 1: Determine your personal style - you will select from several photos as well as stores, fabrics, necklines, and more.

Step 2: Measure yourself - they have you take several measurements from top to bottom (a measuring tape is required for this. I only had a stiff measuring tape, so I used string and held it up to the tape)

Step 3: Your fit preferences - choose from different sizes and fits for various types of clothing

You will then get a personal shop with different clothing you can purchase tailored to your shape, fit and preferences. You will also be given a letter that represents your body type. I got type 'M'

Type 'M' =

  • Women with gently defined figures, subtle waistlines, and graduated, elongated curves.
  • Proportionate shoulders, bust, and hips
  • Often a straight shoulder line
  • Defined waist
  • Curvy or rounded bottom

Recommendations for my body type included:
  • Open necklines
  • Plain front pants with a flared or boot-cut leg
  • Non-bulky, well-fitted clothing
It took me about 15 minutes to fill out the profile and now I have a ton of great clothing, tailored to moi! Here's my personal shop.

What letter are you?
