Since purchasing hardwood floors about a year ago from Lumber Liquidators, I have been searching for a hardwood floor cleaner that makes me smile. I started out with Swiffer WetJet Hardwood Floor Cleaner:
Already owning the kit and using the all-purpose cleaner on my kitchen floor, this was an obvious choice. Unfortunately, I found it to be very streaky and it left a film on my floors. Fail.
I also wanted a greener solution. Seeing as I already kept a vat of distilled white vinegar on hand for other cleaning tasks, I decided to try this next. I diluted the vinegar with water in a spray bottle. It worked great - no streaks, no film, clean & green floors. The problem? I've read that vinegar (being acidic) can slowly damage the finish of your floors. Fail.
Vinegar, however, does have some other great uses. Check them out here at 1001 Uses for White Vinegar.
Finally, I decided to try Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner. It came highly recommended, is green, and has an available floor mop and refill bottle:
Score! This cleaner meets all of my criteria - it's green, has minimal odor, no streaks, and no film. And my floors look fantastic! My search is over. Let the cleaning begin!
Do you have any hardwood floor solutions that work for you? I'd love to hear about them!
I absolutely love Bona! I'm so glad you decided to try it out. I am a huge vinegar fan, but I won't use it on my floors (too many horror stories). Bona has been absolutely wonderful, no streaking, easy to clean, no odor, etc.
ReplyDeleteWhat is in it, its kind of pricey.
