I'm trying to come up with something for my office. It's definitely the neglected room in our house. We have a dark wood desk and a little craft table in there. Other than that, it's just a square room with beige carpet. There's not much room for more furniture. It's pretty small, and it's also where my husband keeps his guitar. Basically, I need colors and decorations.

I want something kind of fun, since I feel like this is the one room where we can get away with almost anything. I've considered gray walls, but I'm undecided. The only color that I definitely do not want is blue, only because we already have blue in three rooms. Really, I'm open to any ideas you have. I'm new to the whole decorating thing, and I love your ideas and your house. And I'm the type of person who really means it when I say I'm open to anything.

A mix of masculine and feminine will help this space to function for both husband and wife. Here's what I came up with:

• His desk will be centered below the window to give him a fantastic view while working in addition to giving some symmetry to the space.

• His guitars will be hung on either side of the window

• A large nature-inspired painting will be hung above her craft table. Another option would be these mirrors to reflect the natural light:

• A new pendant light will add a modern touch to the space

• His and hers desk chairs will be placed at the couple's respective work spaces.

• Shelves with decorative storage containers and fun accents will be placed on the empty wall.

Light and airy or an earthy and grounded? Whichever Nelsonca and her husband choose will work for their his and hers workspace.
